Life size head of an adult male wholly mammoth. Mammuth primigenius.

An Austrian company "MARTE MARTE SUMMER GMBH" in assignment of a private collector.

Life size (this means the head is 150cm high from the top of the head to the lowest part of the trunk).

The reason for building this, Life size head, is to show the tusks that the client has. These tusks (known as the Jarcov mammoth) came from Russia where I made a cast of them in 2003. For the head a skull was scanned and printed on the scale 1:2. On this print I reconstructed the head, and this was cast into polyester. After scanning the head was milled out, life size. Details of eyes, ears and trunk were added on this product and the hair finished the model.
